St. Paul Prayer List

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those
who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom
and the power and the glory
forever and ever. Amen

For the families:

For all parents and children, especially those in fractured families and those dealing with daily turmoil, that our Heavenly Father would surround them with caring friends and counselors to renew the love that they have lost.

Besides the Lord's Prayer here are some other suggestions that you may want to use in your prayers:

For those who serve:

For all who serve in homes and hospitals; all in armed forces deployed and in police, emergency, and fire departments at home; and all public servants in government, that God would protect, strengthen, and guide them for the good of the whole society.

For those with pain or suffering:

For all whose lives are focused on relief from pain and suffering, from illness or addition, that according to His Gracious plans God would bring about healing, relief, and health to body and mind.

For those who mourn:

For all who fear death and all who are mourning, that the Holy Spirit grant them faith to see the death of all who trust in Christ as a sleep from which they will awaken.

Lord, provide Your strength to _______ and their family as they grieve the loss of their ________. Ease their hearts with the hope we have in our Savior Jesus and remind them that Your love is stronger than death. May they know now and, in the days ahead, of Your deep and abiding peace. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”- John 11:25-26

For the Body of Christ:

For the Body of Christ around the world, that God would protect and guide clergy and lay leaders so that the Gospel may be proclaimed freely and many may come to faith.

For those without basic needs:

For all who are in need of basic food, clothing, or shelter, that God would provide whatever they need to support this body and life.

Members of St. Paul also have developed a prayer tree page to pray for each another.

Luther's Morning Prayer:

I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You.  For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things.  Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me.  Amen.

Luther's Evening Prayer:

I thank you, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have graciously kept me this day; and I pray that You would forgive me all my sins where I have done wrong, and graciously keep me this night.  For into Your hands, I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things.  Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me.  Amen.

Martin Luther Prayer:

Behold, Lord, An empty vessel that needs to be filled. My Lord, fill it.

I am weak in faith; Strengthen thou me. I am cold in love; Warm me and make me fervent That my love may go out to my neighbor. I do not have a strong and firm faith; At times I doubt and am unable to trust thee altogether.

O Lord, help me. Strengthen my faith and trust in thee.

In thee I have sealed the treasures of all I have. I am poor; Thou art rich and didst come to be merciful to the poor. I am a sinner; Thou art upright.

With me there is an abundance of sin; In thee is the fullness of righteousness.

Therefore, I will remain with thee of who I can receive But to whom I may not give. Amen.
